NBA 2K25 My Team News: Auction House Is Back

So, NBA 2K25 My Team news is here, and it's looking exciting! We have new modes, a prestige system, and much content we’ve been waiting for. Let’s start with the most thrilling part: the return of the auction house.

Auction House Return

The auction house is back, meaning we can finally sell cards like we used to. They mentioned in the blog that they will strictly monitor the auction house to ensure fair use.

Additionally, you can now search for your cards in the auction, which means you can check card prices with just one click and easily sell them. The auction house's return is a huge win!

Prestige System

Next, My Team finally has a prestige system. It’s not a long-awaited feature, but it’s fantastic that they’ve added it! The system has 11 levels, from bronze to dark matter, and you can earn prestige by completing challenges and matches.

Throughout the year, there will be many double prestige events. You might be wondering why to earn prestige. As your prestige increases, you’ll unlock better rewards, like more auction space, free packs, and when you reach dark matter, you’ll get a “GOAT” Jayson Tatum, 1 million MT, weekly free elite packs, every Hall of Fame badge, a dark matter banner, shoes cards, and a cool dark matter ball. I can’t wait to reach dark matter level!

New Modes Introduction

Next, we have all-new modes, which might be the biggest overhaul in My Team history. The first new mode is the 3v3 park mode. In this mode, you can use NBA players while your My Player watches from the sidelines. This is actually a remake of the Rivet City Champion park from NBA 2K16.

You will play as three players on four courts, while the other five courts will be casual games, meaning you can play with random players like in the city. Winning games can earn you many rewards, and consecutive wins will bring extra bonuses.

Challenges and Rewards

As you step onto the court, your My Player will showcase My Team cards, displaying the NBA player you’ll control. I can imagine that animation; it’s going to be cool! Another thing I love is that for players who don’t play My Career, the rewards from leveling up will apply to any mode you play since you can now use your My Player in My Team.

Also, the introduction of showcase locations excites me because we love opening packs, adding new fun to the experience. Showcase locations allow you to open packs on a large billboard, visible to everyone. If you pull something great, that player will come out with fireworks; I can’t wait to see that animation! Oh, and when you do this, you can unlock 30 minutes of double prestige.

Breakout Mode and Showdown Mode

Next is another new mode—Breakout Mode. This is an offline mode, and it sounds super fun. Once you choose the difficulty, you’ll start in the center of Breakout City. In this mode, there are three different game types: normal 13-player full roster matches, 3v3, and short-duration matches.

In these matches, you’ll face teams and players from different eras, earning reward points for winning. However, be careful—if you lose three matches in a row, you’ll need to restart. This mode brings a significant change to My Team’s offline experience, allowing you to focus on a specific mode.

Showdown Mode Changes

Now, for the online mode overhaul, my favorite Unlimited mode has been replaced by Showdown Mode. In this new mode, you’ll use a complete team, but each quarter lasts only 4 minutes. The goal is to rise through 15 levels, winning as many games as possible to get closer to the top level.

If you achieve multiple consecutive wins, you’ll earn extra progress. Each level has a checkpoint, ensuring your progress isn’t lost. Importantly, once you reach a level, you cannot drop back down. Every Friday, you can choose the rewards you earned in Showdown Mode, meaning the more games you win, the better the rewards.

King of the Court

Another new mode is “King of the Court.” This exclusive event will occur every Saturday for four hours. To participate, you just need to reach a certain threshold in either the 3v3 park or Showdown. When you start playing in King of the Court mode, you’ll earn points for each game, but if you lose three matches in a row, you’ll be eliminated.

Your score will be ranked against the top 50%, 10%, 1%, and the final number one. The top player will earn over 1 million VC and additional rewards.

Easier Challenges

This year, challenges have become simpler, combining tasks. In the screenshot, you can see challenges and assist tasks merged. You can click on it, enter the mode, and complete challenges using Lakers players.

Regarding starting packs, you can now choose from several current free agent cards that are equivalent to diamond players, along with a historical player equivalent to a pink diamond. You can use these players for 10 matches. Additionally, if you feel familiar with the game, you can skip the tutorial at the start.

New Card Collection Rules

The changes to card collecting are also interesting. In the past, you usually just needed to open packs or buy players to increase your collection level. Now, you must lock cards to count, but the good news is you can lock cards individually without needing them in a set. Rewards cards can also be locked.

This means if you want to achieve the ultimate collection level reward, you will need to lock nearly all the cards, adding a new layer to card collecting.

Other New Features

Several random but cool features have been added too. You can now train and practice in My Team, allowing you to apply your desired tactics in real games. The exchange system requirements are more flexible, and there will be more repeatable tasks.

You can also customize the entire game experience, changing game indicators, stamina bars, and perfect release settings to make it more unique. NBA 2K25 has announced the introduction of legendary badges, which will be the top badges above Hall of Fame badges, and I can’t wait to see their power.

Shoe boosts have been replaced, meaning you can use shoe cards, but boosts have been replaced with “Takeover Cards.” These cards allow you to customize your shoes and select player abilities, which could bring significant changes.

Conclusion

Finally, you can set your offensive tactics and keep them, which is very exciting. You can now preset your bench lineup, making substitutions easier. Additionally, you can select multiple Takeover Cards at once instead of flipping through them one by one.

This update is the craziest I’ve seen! We have 3v3 park, Showdown, Breakout, King of the Court modes, and, of course, the auction house return. The addition of the prestige system might be the biggest change in My Team history.
